Woody's Wheel Works Superlite Hubs
We see a lot of the stock wheels arrive in all sorts of conditions. Woody decided to make a better, stronger, lighter, and better looking hub/wheel for the R12 & HP2. The front hub is 3 pounds lighter and the rear is 2 pounds lighter, made of 6061 billet aluminum. We combine these hubs with 7000 series Excel rims, high grade American made Stainless Steel Spokes and Nipples, and our Superlace pattern to form the strongest and lightest wheels available. The front wheels are about 5 pounds lighter than stock and the rear about 4 pounds.
We offer these wheels in stock sizes (2.50x19 front & 4.25x17 rear) or if you want to do some serious off-road, we offer the wheels with a 21" front and either a 2.50x17" rear or 2.50x18"
The 21" front opens up a range of off-road tires, and allows you to pick through the rocks more easily.
The fact that we use conventional laced wheels, allows us to use all sorts of rim combination in different colors.
The stock rim is just too wide and too soft to take off-road. The narrower and stronger Excel 1.85x21" rim is the most important and cost effective improvement to making sure you don't bend the rim again. If you bent your rear rim, we recommend replacing it with a narrower 3.50x17-36H Excel. We can replace it with the stock size rear(4.25x17") in an Excel, for better on-road performance.
If your spokes or nipples are starting to rust or you just want to have a stronger wheel, then we can replace your spokes and nipples with Stainless Steel Spokes & Nipples and Superlace it. We drill the new Excel to support a superior cross 3 lace pattern(the rear wheel would become a cross 4 drive and cross 3 disc lace pattern) and voila, you have a far superior wheel without sacrificing much on-road performance.
Cost is calculated on the form linked to on the left. Options include rims sizes, rim colors and hub colors, and spoke types and sizes. You will have a chance to consider these as you walk through the form. It is strictly information with no Credit Card information requested.
Update 04/042012: Single and Dual Rotor Superlite hubs are now available for the front Super Tenere!
